MSP for pulses 2025-26: tur, chana, moong, urad and masoor
The support prices that set the floor under India's pulse market this year, in one table.
Key takeaways
- Tur MSP is ₹8,000 a quintal for the 2025-26 kharif crop, up ₹450.
- Chana MSP is ₹5,875 for the crop marketed in 2026-27, up ₹225. Masoor is ₹7,000.
- Tur, urad and masoor carry a four-year promise of 100% procurement at MSP in participating states.
Minimum Support Price is the price at which the government stands ready to buy a crop from farmers. It is announced before sowing, and for pulses it works as a floor under the mandi.
| Pulse | Season | MSP (₹/quintal) | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tur (arhar) | Kharif 2025-26 | 8,000 | +450 |
| Moong | Kharif 2025-26 | 8,768 | +86 |
| Urad | Kharif 2025-26 | 7,800 | +400 |
| Chana (gram) | Rabi, marketed 2026-27 | 5,875 | +225 |
| Masoor (lentil) | Rabi, marketed 2026-27 | 7,000 | +300 |
What MSP does, and does not do
MSP is not a market price. It bites only where procurement actually happens, through NAFED and NCCF under the Price Support Scheme of PM-AASHA. When mandi prices sit above MSP, as they often have for tur, it is background. When a large crop pushes the mandi below it, procurement becomes the floor.
The 100% procurement promise
The Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, approved on 1 October 2025 with an outlay of ₹11,440 crore, commits the Centre to buy all the tur, urad and masoor farmers offer at MSP for four years in participating states. Its goal: 350 lakh tonnes of pulses by 2030-31.
What it means if you buy dal
MSP is a reference for the raw grain, not for dal. Milling, the share of grain that becomes dal, grading and freight all sit on top. A higher MSP lifts the floor under every one of them, which is why it is worth knowing before you negotiate a season's contract.
Quick answers
₹8,000 per quintal for Kharif Marketing Season 2025-26, an increase of ₹450 over 2024-25.
₹5,875 per quintal for gram in Rabi Marketing Season 2026-27, an increase of ₹225.
No. MSP applies to the raw crop bought from farmers. Dal prices add milling, recovery, grading, packing and freight on top of the grain price.
